BeMobile Verizon, in collaboration with Crazy Crayons, has achieved an unprecedented milestone in its crayon recycling campaign, benefitting local schools and daycare centers.
In a continued effort to support environmental sustainability and foster creativity among children, BeMobile Verizon has launched its Crayon Drive for a 4th year. Used and broken crayons are being gathered and delivered to Crazy Crayons, a nonprofit organization committed to both eco-preservation and childhood enrichment.
The collected crayons undergo meticulous sorting by color, followed by melting and remanufacturing processes that create whimsical shapes such as worms, dinosaurs, and ergonomically designed grips. These recycled crayons are then distributed to pre-schools and childcare facilities, bringing joy and color into learning environments.
Expressing enthusiasm for this continued relationship, Megan Preble, BeMobile’s Marketing Team Leader stated. “We are grateful to renew our partnership with Crazy Crayons this year, empowering children and making meaningful contributions to the communities we serve,” says Preble. “We aim to surpass our previous donation record by providing over 3,000 pounds of crayons to be recycled.”
The drive comes at a crucial time, as the U.S. annually discards more than half a million pounds of crayons, equivalent to approximately 60 million individual crayons. By diverting crayons from landfills and instead recycling, Crazy Crayons and BeMobile Verizon are making tangible strides in waste reduction and environmental stewardship.
